Bio
Benjamin Norbrook practices the art of paying attention. In music, sound art and sound design, his process involves close self-examination of memory, experience and trauma through multimedia collage. Recent projects include In Siren’s Wake, linking grief over the Los Angeles wildfires to his childhood survival of a house fire; and Spiral Memory, a sonic exploration of masculinity during his upbringing as a British Jew. Norbrook is currently undertaking his MFA in Composition and Experimental Sound Practice at CalArts in Los Angeles, studying with Marc Lowenstein and Eyvind Kang. He completed his undergraduate studies in composition with David Sawer and Morgan Hayes at the Royal Academy of Music, London, graduating with First Class Honors.
